Andre, you are INCREDIBLE. I can't thank you enough! I ran the patch, then installed the offline bundle, and after reboot my datastore is properly mounted and the patch applied successfully!! This problem has been a thorn in my side for MONTHS! Thank you!
It won't, unless you subscribed to the trainings plan through the partner portal. VUE / Prometric is the first sure which will have a record of a pass. The records will then be uploaded to VMware. It can then still take a day or two until mylearn is updated and sometimes you wait weeks for the email after that.
If keep an eye on the VUE / Prometric site first.
Have you enabled promiscuous mode on vSwitch of your physical host ? See this another thread: Nested ESXi 5.1 and iSCSI Shared Storage
Any ISO image associated with this VM ?
heres my log file
Hi,
It is always recommended to upgrade VMware tools version to latest before upgrading the VM hardware version. Also I would recommend to take the snapshot of the virtual machine before you upgrade the VM hardware tools.
1. Upgrade the VMware Tools version to Latest If it is not updated. Ensure status of the VMware Tools is Up-to-Date.
2. Take the snapshot of the virtual Machine before proceed with upgrading the VM hardware Version.
3. Take a backup of Windows VM IP address information uisng VMUpgradeHelper. “Upgrade VMware VM Hardware Version without losing network settings”
4. Note down the VM version of your virtual machine before the hardware upgrade. It was vmx-09 and My ESXi host was with version ESXi 5.1.
5. Right-click the virtual machine and Select Upgrade Virtual Hardware
Read the Below warning and click on Yes to confirm the Virtual Machine Upgrade. This operation will cause the virtual hardware that your guest operating system runs on to change. It is an irreversible operation that will make your virtual machine incompatible with earlier version of VMware software products. It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of your disks before proceeding That’s why I have suggested to take a snapshot of the.virtual machine before upgrading the VM hardware version. Click on Yes.
VM hardware version upgrade task will complete in few seconds.
Once VM hardware version is completed, note down the VM version. It should be Vmx-10. All the features sets of VM hardware version 10 can only be utilized when accessing the vCenter from vSphere web client.
That’s it. We are done with upgrading VM hardware version
Thanks

I looked at
get-view -viewtype 'hostsystem' -property 'name' -filter @{"Name" = "esxhost"} | gm
but did not find the task there

I am trying to disconnect a host from a cluster, remove it and add it back into another vcenter
In Settings>Compatibility, you'll see what hardware version is currently being used and if it's not version 12, click the Upgrade button.
BTW, when updating VMware Tools, did you get either a Windows "Found New Hardware WIzard" popping up repeatedly during the install, or have the Tools install hang altogether forcing a Power Off? For me the Hardware Wizard kept popping up in XP Pro and XP Home just locked up. It was necessary to force a Power Off and then run the Tools Repair option in Reinstall VMware Tools.
If I login to my VUE account it asks to enter a candidate ID like when you schedule an exam, no data for already done exams... Maybe I need to introduce my candidate ID for Beta Exam?
Well due to the lack of reply I went to your competitors product instead.
The Virtualized DHCP Server was successful in assigning an IP address to another Virtual Machine running the same OS, yes.
Thank you for stopping by and chiming in Richardson!
And the drivers linked to on the intel page where released n 21st April 2015....would appear to not be the correct drivers at all if as per statement that these have just been developped. So I guess everyone is waiting for a driver now that has to come from intel.
Q: what is being meant with this?
Means that the P2V process of a physical PC with Windows 10 is fully supported by VMware, see the release notes: VMware Workstation 12 Pro Release Notes
- Full support of Windows 10
VMware Workstation Pro provides the following support for Windows 10:
- Run Windows 10 as a virtual machine
- Run Windows 10 as a host operating system
- Windows 10 Auto Detect and Easy Install
- Unity support for Windows 10
- Migrate Windows 10 PC to a virtual machine
And about the fact you can run Windows 10 on VMware Workstation 11 doesn't mean that is is fully supported, at least according with VMware Software Compatibility Guide, VMware Workstation 11 does not support Windows 10.
I cannot get my network adapter to work since I upgraded my VM to Windows 10. It shows as enabled and OK in Windows Device Manager but disabled and cannot be enabled in Network Connections. This happened with Fusion 7 and continues since I upgraded to Fusion 8. I've reinstalled VMware tools, removed the adapter and reinstalled in Windows, removed the adapter and reinstalled in Fusion Virtual Machine settings. It happens both in "Share with my Mac" mode and Automatic bridging. Please advise. Thanks.
All,
Here's a great article talking about tangible benefits of the joint NVIDIA/VMware solution, and mentioning the "Tower of Power" that you'll be able to visit at this year's event!
VMworld kicks off at Moscone; will VMware appease the faithful? - SFGate
Can someone from VMware please comment on this? I'm experiencing the same problem with a Dell R220 and Intel DC S3500.
Call "HostDatastoreSystem.CreateVmfsDatastore" for object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi "x.x.x.x" failed.
I've been upgrading virtual machines from Fusion 7.0.1 Pro to Fusion 8 Pro in a Yosemite host and the first step is updating VMware Tools and switching to hardware version 12.
In every instance from OS X 10.10 down to 10.5, the update fails; it works in 10.11. The message is "The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." The solution is to uninstall VMware Tools and then reinstall it. It's easy and quick enough but shouldn't be necessary and not the obvious solution to people new to Fusion (I've been using it since V2.0.5).
In Windows XP Pro, the installation succeeds but with numerous warnings from the Found New Hardware Wizard that new hardware has been found and what do you want to do about it.
In Windows XP Home, the installation just freezes and a Power Off is necessary. A repair as the re-installation choice solved that.
